Hi. I've got a GT-511C3 fingerprint reader connected to a sparkfun FTDI basic board which in turn is connected to my computer. I find to get any sort of response from the device, it's taking an excessive amount of finger pressure to get it to do anything.
The basic demo is sort of running. I can open the device (115,000 baud), it returns the firmware/serial no info etc. I've so far managed to capture a finger print once. Every other time it fails with a timeout. Running the "Is Finger Pressed" test succeeds maybe 1-2 times in every 10. That's with your finger pressed really hard on the capture panel.
If I run the realtime viewer, I can see the lines of the fingerprint appear, but again, only after applying excessive pressure on the device.
Is this something as simple as a faulty device?
