Hi to all,

I'd like to ask you if I can use a RF Link Transmitter like this one http://www.sparkfun.com/products/10534 like a hidden dog fence.

I mean: can I connect a long wire to the Antenna pin and use it to mark a particular area borders like hidden dog fences do?

In this way, I can use a RF Link receiver on my mobile robot in order to detect the RF field and change its path according to the signal strenght.

Thanks for your answer.

So, how the hidden dog fence work?

The closed loop wire used by this kind of fence, is not a long antenna?

What kind of devices should I use to build something like that?

Where can I get more info about this kind of devices?

I'd like to study how dog fence system work in order to know how to build a circuit with the same features.

I searched on google for schematics or theory but I've found nothing :(

I think these systems use inductive coupling. Probably via a resonant coil in the receiver. I did a little googling and was surprised that there was very little technical info on these kind of devices.

Yep, there is no documentation about this stuff and I do not know the reason! :(

I'm very interested in this kind of devices and I would like to found someone which can help me to better understand..
