How long do you think it will be until we see Thunderbolt breakout boards?

Only the most awesome thing to happen to computer cables in the last 15 years. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thunderbolt. It's a new connection that will hopefully replace USB, display connectors and almost every other port on your computer. It supports 10Gbps asynchronously and 2 monitors all on 1 port. So far Apple has been the only computer manufacturer to use it (latest MBP) but several drive manufacturers are already rolling out products to use it and HP has said they will be supporting it soon.

Why? Microcontrollers don't tax the USB limits at all.

I don't see any Firewire breakout boards. I don't think there is a need.

Hmmm. I guess you have a point. I was thinking more in terms of peripherals and displays.

To hook up Thunderbolt to an Arduino you would probably need an nVidia breakout board first. 8^)
