What about matlab? I know you said you dont want to rewrite the program, but it really doesnt sound to hard to write.

I got a copy of Visual Studio...Nice software...Just hope I can figure out how to dumb it down to my level!

Who could forget about throwing together a couple of lines of good old BASIC from the grade school days?
QB45 is free to download and last I checked, runs on Win XP. Don't know about the later version of windoze. QB is fine for text files and the help function is quite good for its time.
