I have an EM-406A GPS with SparkFun eval board. Eval board has RS232 output -- which works fine supplying NMEA data to my Tracking device http://www.byonics.com/pockettracker/ -- but I want to use the GPS WITHOUT the eval board.

When separated from the eval board, the GPS puts out TTL level data -- so I need to convert the TTL voltages to RS232 levels. Can I use either the PRT-00133 or PRT-00449 to convert FROM TTL TO RS232? I don't believe my Tracker supplies the voltage to power the converter -- so can I power the converter from the 5 vdc source also used to power my GPS?

You say you need to convert to RS232 levels... What are you trying to connect the GPS to? If it's a PC, something like DEV-09716 is even easier than using a serial port.
