The BlueSmirfs have the 5v logic to 3v logic conversion built in. Sorry if this is a stupid question but will it still work with 3v logic too.

I think the exact quote is that the BlueSMiRF is 3V-6V "tolerant". Which means (I guess) that they run at 3V, but can put up with 5V (input) whether the 3V output will be read as a "high" by your uC is another matter...
