Parallax' new Propeller development boardclaims
to have blue LED alphanumeric displays.

I have only seen Red, High Eff Red, Green, Yellow
from either Kingbrightor Lite-On (the two vendors
I've used).

Anyone know where to source the blue 13.8mm
Alphanumeric dual displays (if they exist)?

also LiteOn LTS-5501AB and LTS-5503AB, couldn't find a DS.
Great! But....

Only interested in a drop in for the Red or Green used today.

That seem to be what you're looking for?

They seem to have anywhere from 5.08mm tall characters to 14.22mm tall characters, in both SMD and PTH, and common cathode and anode configurations (SMD seems to be all anode though).

EDIT ----

Oops, you said alphanumeric. It seems the only available option is:

That certainly looks promising! The datasheet link is broken,
so I only have the summary page to go on. My PCB is laid out
for TH and at $18.50 each, I won't be buying any of these today.

If you can find the Parallax ad copy (I think it was the back cover of
Nuts and Volts magazine) they have a display that looks like the one
I use now. But on second look I don't think the Parallax display is as big.

Yep, I've got the magazine, and have seen the ad.

Although, for PTH components, wouldn't it be cheaper to buy them in single digit, and then just place them next to each other? (it doesn't look like there is anything physically keeping you from doing this)

Anywho, I found this interesting if you wanted to check them out:

Google for Toyo LED got me this:
http://www.toyo-led.com/alpha_numeric_displays.htm

Looks like you're interested in the bottom row(A20541-L&I or A20541-L1&I1), with color code BL.

Well I missed the window, having designed the PCB for
a dual part, which is available in Red, Yellow, or Green
from Digikey (Lite-On) or Mouser (Kingbright).

Great! That would do it, and it confirms that a blue
version exists. I wonder where I can sample or buy
a few pieces to try?

Oh, I see. The boards are set in stone.

It seems they have an inquiry page, but I dont know how far that will get you.

np ;)

people tend to not take seriously ebay but where else can you get such great deals? I've been buying many of my components from there.
Where else can you get 5000 0603 resistors in 50 different values, sorted, for only 14$? ;)
