All things pertaining to wireless and RF links

Hello All,

I've never designed a PCB for microwave frequencies before, and now find myself interested in designing a front end for quad frequency GPS/GNSS (I'd like to get L1 @1575.42, L2 @1226, and the GLONASS L1 and L2 bands aswell since I heard the russians are turning off encryption on their Precise ranging code).

Unfortunately I can't find any pre-made GPS front end IC's and reference designs that have more than 2 or 3MHz front end bandwidth (SSB) so I'm looking at doing it from discrete components - even the front end filtering since monolithic ceramics are only available for the common L1 frequency.

Does anyone know of any design guides that go through a general design of a front end for something in the 900MHz to 2.5GHz range? I can learn, I'd just like a practical example.

Thanks in advance.
