I was initially successful in talking to the BlueSMiRF using hyperterminal. I then issued the command "ATSW25,0,0,0,0" which puts the device into Slave mode as well as Fast Data Mode. This leaves the device unresponsive to commands through either the UART and hyperterminal via bluetooth.

I issued a factory reset by putting PIO(4) high (3.3Vdc as specified) for at least a second on power up, which should set the device back to factory resets.

I still cannot communicate with the device, even though the red light does turn on indicating connection. Does anyone else have experience with this?

Help would be greatly appreciated!

If you are using a PC with Bluetooth capability can the PC see the BlueSMiRF module?

If you have access to a Pocket PC with Bluetooth capability can the PDA discover the BlueSMiRF module?

If you have a Pocket PC you can visit the following webpage to see if
the example can help you out.

If you can Open or Close a COM port on the Pocket PC while it has a
bluetooth connection with the BlueSMiRF it will send "strings" of data out
its TX pin. You can use an oscilloscope to view the "strings" of data or
even Hyperterminal if it is connected to a PC.

If the BlueSMiRF has been reset back to its Factory Default settings
you should be able to see these data "strings".
