Hi all,

I try to find a serial bluetooth device. I don't want to have a serial cable replacement. I want to have the samething as a usb bluetooth dongle but serial. I need no specific profile. The only thing i need is the DIAC possibility to connect devices together.

do the one from sparkfun can work ? Since i have no control on the other hand.

The BlueSMIRF from sparkfun doesn't give you a true bluetooth serial HCI, but it does give you an AT-style command interface that lets you do a number of things. I think it can be configured to act like a cable replacement, but by default it acts more like a modem. You can "dial" another bluetooth device, talk over a transparent serial connection for a while, "hang up", set some parameters, do a device discovery or pairing, etc.

I don't think it's possible to make it use an inquiry code other than GIAC (I just quickly read through the command list) so maybe it is not suitable for your application.
