Hi
We are trying to get the Telit GPRS module (862-PCS) connected up for a remote monitoring system in Australia.
So far we have talked to two networks - Telstra and Vodafone and they don't seem to support the module at all.
Can someone people help - either by suggesting alternate devices or anyone having experience with getting one of these modules setup in Australia.
Thanks in advance

What means "don't seem to support the module at all"? Is the SIM recognized? Can you register into the network? Can you attach to GPRS? Which phase is getting problems?

The SIM is recognised and using the AT+CREG command the reponse given is 0,1. So it seems to register on the network.
We can make voice calls - which seem to cut out after a few seconds with the signal NO CARRIER.
We can seem to send SMS's but they are never recieved at the other end. Whenever trying to connect to the GPRS network we continually get the NO CARRIER signal.
We have tried 3 networks now - Vodafone, Telstra and Optus. They all say the device has not been approved for use on their network - therefore they can offer us no support.
Using the AT+CGACT=1,1 command (which activates GPRS without sending data) returns +CGACT:1,0 (signalling that it is not connected).
Thanks

Hmmm, with this kind of service and support from them you are a bit lost in nowhere. Is GPRS enabled on that SIM? Are you able to use GPRS with the SIM in an "approved" phone?

Yes to both of your questions.
GPRS is enabled on the SIM,
We have tried with an approved phone and that seemed to work ok.

Sounds like you've come up against a very particular problem. I'm going to have to recommend you try the GM862 support forum where the true tech-heads for the Telit modules can help.
