Hi!

What's the maximum speed the the SMiRF unit can actually transmit ?

I set in the unit menu to transmit at 38,400

But when I try to get to it's menu using 38,400bps connection in Hyper Terminal it doesn't work, but if I try at 9600 it works

That's a problem, but's not the worst, I really need to comunicate using a program that'll use always my COM port maximum speed, and I need to limit that to 9600 but I can't even at Windows Device Manager I try to limit it, but the program keeps trying to comunicate at 115200, and because of that it doesn't work.

Can anyone help me out here ?

The SMiRF can communicate at 38400 but not at full speed. What this means is there are buffers on either end - at 38400, the buffers tend to fill quickly as packets are dropped. If you send a constant stream of characters at 38400, you will run into problems. At 9600, the characters are coming slowly enough that the units can negotiate the handshaking in time.

What program are you trying to use? You ought to be able to scale it back.
