Bluetooth Mate Silver not communicating

I purchased a Bluetooth Mate Silver and things seemed to go fine. It said Windows10 had a driver, it was paired, and shows up in my "devices" window. When I open a terminal in arduino the green LED on the Bluetooth comes on indicating it is connected, but when I enter a command it does not send it. If I send the same command to the same device using a direct connection with a USB-B cable rather than Bluetooth, the command is sent and received. Perhaps the Windows10 driver is not working? If so, how can I get Bluetooth working? Any other suggestions? Thanks!
