Got a BlueSMiRF Silver in the mail today. On initial power up it was in "startup mode" (status LED blinking 2/sec). I connected to UART on the BT module via USB-serial cable and got right into CMD mode. I changed the name of the device and power-cycled it. When it restarted, it was in "discoverable/idle" mode with the new name appearing in the list of bluetooth devices. I tried pairing it with my Mac Mini (10.10.5). It can see the BlueSMIRF and connects to it momentarily but then quickly goes back to "not connected". The BlueSmirf never shows any 'connected' status and the 'D' command (back in CMD mode -- terminal) still shows 'Bonded=0' which I assume means the device isn't paired.

I have tried this exactly thing from my Macbook Air with the same result. The iPhone does not see the BlueSmirft at all.

I'm starting to think this is a bad module....
