I've looked around and couldn't find much on the topic of a "buttonless key fob" design. I'm looking for something that would detect an item in my pocket from 1-3 meters away. I've got a push-button ingition system for my Ford that senses the key fob that's in close proximity. There's no "start car" button on my fob, it's on my dashboard.

That's the basic idea of what I'm looking for. I want something in my home to know when the small fob is 1-3 meters from it then activate something. The only tutorials I've seen tutorials for fobs with buttons on them that use fairly long range radio transmitters.

Any ideas?
