Just received a BlueSMiRF and I have no problems pairing or issuing commands. The problem begins when when sending data. It send data for 3-5 minutes and then the data transmission stops. In order to get it working again I have to disconnect the tx and rx from the UART ports, reconnect to the SMiRF via teraterm, and then reconnect the rx/tx (while still connected to the COM port via teraterm). As soon as the rx and tx are connected data starts flowing for a few minutes and then the whole cycle repeats itself.

I'm pretty new to embedded systems. Is this the way a BlueSMiRF should be working? Any ideas what may be the issue?

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

I had a problem like that which I couldn't track down (except in my case it would stop working after an hour or two). I'm pretty sure it was due to a bug in the software on the computer the module was talking to, because it didn't occur with other host computers. Frustrating.
