I noticed that Telit offers firmware updates for the GM862 module, but the only mention of it I see on how to upgrade it seems to require the Round Solutions board or the Telit EVK board. Is there a way to upgrade the firmware using the Sparkfun evaluation board? I hear their newset firmware fixes some issues with the streaming jpeg output from the module.

You can download the firmward from the GM862 website:
http://www.roundsolutions.com/techdocs/

It's a simple windows app that runs across a serial port. All the SFE Eval boards work with this bootloader.
