Hi, I just received 2 of the maxstream xbee pro modules. Before I create some breakouts for these I was wondering if the 215mA transmit current consumption is adjustable. I want to power one of the modules from the 3.3v output of a ft232rl chip. Since the 215mA is over the limit for the chip, I will have to add a power supply. Can the power be reduced on the pro module to bring it to identical levels as the non pro model? down to a transmit of 45mA?

Thanks for any help

You can adjust the transmitted power and that will reduce the power consumption. However, the transmitter's duty cycle is so very low that this is not usually an issue, as compared to, say, an always-on (non-sleeping) receiver.

That sounds good. So maybe I can get away with power from the bus. I'll give it a go :)

Thank you.
