We have a bluesmirf rp-sma and are having range issues. The connection and transmission are working correctly, except after a range of about 5 feet the two devices lose connection. The specs for this product state it as a class 1 device and hence up to 100 meters. There is an option for an antenna, but is not currently implemented. The device is for a project that is due next Friday and time is of great importance. We have tested the device with multiple bluetooth devices to see if it was the other bluetooth device, but this produced the same results. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Uh, for the rp-sma bluesmirf, the external antenna is mandatory. If you haven't bothered to attach one then you're definitely going to have range issues...
