Mini-bully Bootloader and Hyperterm?

Post by RogueWarrior » Sun Jun 07, 2009 12:13 pm

Is there some magic incantation to get the PIC24 Breakout board with the Mini-bully Bootloader and the FTDI breakout board combination plus the echo.c program to work in Hyperterm (or any other regular terminal program).

I have done the following.
1) Installed the FTDI drivers.
2) Compiled the echo project in MPLAB for the correct PIC.
3) Installed the hex file with the Windows Bully Bootloader app.
4) Tested it in that app. I get incremented characters back just fine.

But if I try to run Hyperterm (or Realterm), the heartbeat LED goes solid and no characters are returned. I do see the TX led on the FTDI board flash every time I press a key.

Okay, I figured it out. You have to clear the DTR line in order to get the bootloader to fire up the main app. Hyperterm and ZTerm on a Mac don't have a way of doing this. Realterm does.

Ok is it the exact issue?? Or do one need to do any further tweaking to enhance or make it work perfectly..
