UART to UART communication

 by lusher00 ¦  Mon Oct 08, 2018 5:42 am ¦  Forum: AVR Microcontrollers ¦  Topic: UART to UART communication ¦  Replies: 1 ¦  Views: 1840

I have a 3.3v XMega talking to a 3.3v Kinetis KL15 over UART1 with a 1k series resistor between the two. On some units, when the XMega drives TX low the KL15 sees about 2v on the RX. If I remove the 1k series resistor the KL15 sees 0V on the RX. If I disconnect the KL15 RX and put a 10k pull-up on t...

Re: bluetooth bee baud rate

 by lusher00 ¦  Sun Jul 19, 2015 2:14 pm ¦  Forum: Wireless/RF ¦  Topic: bluetooth bee baud rate ¦  Replies: 3 ¦  Views: 487

My "issue" is exactly as I described it. No matter what I set the baud rate to, I CAN still talk to it. Why does the device allow me to send it commands to set the baud rate if it doesn't really care what baud (or data bits, parity and stop bits for that matter) I use to talk to it on the RF side. T...

bluetooth bee baud rate

 by lusher00 ¦  Sun Jul 19, 2015 6:45 am ¦  Forum: Wireless/RF ¦  Topic: bluetooth bee baud rate ¦  Replies: 3 ¦  Views: 487

I have a bluetooth bee from ElecFreaks based on the HC-05 chip. It doesn't seem to matter what I set the baud to in RealTerm, I can still talk to it. What's up with that? The microcontroller is talking to it at 38400.

cant change range of BMA180

I have a BMA180 accelerometer on an i2c bus. I'm able to read and write the appropriate registers but I can't get the range setting to take effect. I read the register, or it with the range setting, write it back and then read it again to verify the write was accepted and it is but the range doesn't...

ITG-3200 problems

I'm talking to an ITG-3200 but when I ask for the X,Y,Z angular rates I get all 0's. I can see it's sending 0's on my scope. I can read the WHO_AM_I register correctly. All of my settings get ACKed so I can only assume they are taking. The 0's are ACKed to so I'm confident my hardware and software i...

Re: IAR EWARM trouble wtih Stellaris ARM

I already explained to you why I didn't want to do that. This wasn't my first effort. I've been blindly throwing code in someone else's main since March. It was a hurdle I would have to jump regardless of how long I avoided it. I didn't "lose" 2 days... I gained 2 days... of experience.

I had checked the project settings at least a dozen times over and couldn't find anything but I definitely missed something. It wasn't until I examined the arguments passed into the linker that I noticed it. Under general options - library configuration I had the drop down set to custom instead of n...

That definitely clears some things up. Any clue what I am missing that would cause these two pieces of code not to be built? I started with example projects and putting my own code in their main function but I am to the point now where I want to learn to do it from scratch. Much of this stuff is ind...

IAR EWARM trouble wtih Stellaris ARM

I posted this on AVR freaks but I thought someone over here might know as well. Sorry to be "that guy" I am trying to build a project for the Stellaris LM3S9B92 (EvalBot platform) with IAR EWARM and I don't seem to be getting the settings right. I have followed every relevant instruction...

AT91SAM3U main clock doesnt appear to be starting

I am messing with the example code from Atmel for the AT91SAM3U-EK and every application I load gets stuck right here in the low level init function: while (!(AT91C_BASE_PMC->PMC_SR & AT91C_PMC_MOSCSELS) && (timeout++ < CLOCK_TIMEOUT)); Anyone have a clue? These projects worked before I updated YAGA...

Unable to use SAM-ICE with Sam-ba

I am trying to use the SAM-ICE with Sam-ba to program my AT91SAM3U-EK. Initially I didn't have any problem getting Sam-ba to run on the PC side. When you start Sam-ba it asks for the communications interface and the board. I can select /jlink/ARM0 and the board but when I press connect I get the mes...

Re: generic SPI driver for AT91SAM7S256

Actually you can see in the code I posted previously that I did take care of that. But I do appreciate the response. I scratched my head for a day or two while staring at the scope crossing my fingers. I had the idea in the back of my head that changing from VARIABLE to FIXED peripheral select would...
