Re: Making stand-alone USB buttons/switches/etc. ?
Arduino type boards that use the ATmega32U4 (Leonardo, Pro Micro, etc.) can emulate an HID keyboard. You can attach as many buttons as there are GPIO pins available and use them to send whatever keyboard input you want, including multiple key presses per button press.

Re: BOB-09056 incorrect documentation?
Digital inputs must be tied to either high or low, as appropriate. If you leave them floating, they will be in an unpredictable state. Here are some references:

Re: Attach Standard 7 Segment LED to Large Digital Driver
The large digit driver boards have an 8-bit serial-in parallel-out shift register and resistors to limit the current through the LED segments. They are set up for the voltage and current requirements of the large 7 segment displays that SF sells. It is certainly possible to add more shift registers ...

Re: Large Digital Driver
The postNumber function only shifts out one digit at a time. If you have multiple digits, you'll have to call it multiple times.

I can't tell where the other end of your wires go, but you should know that the wires you are holding in your hand in the first photo are connected to the output of that device. If you are trying to send your clock and data into that end, it will not work.

Re: safety inquiry
I am not. The only reason I know to check with the CDRH is that you mentioned it was related to laser regulation, with which I have some experience. I can't think of any other agency that would deal with that type of stuff, but you never know when it comes to government regulation. Something like ht...
