Anyone have a workflow for creating custom fonts?

Like the title says, anyone have a workflow for custom fonts? I need a font that is the same size at the 7-segment one, but not in 7-segment format. Basically something that looks like the 5x7, just bigger. Maybe even a fixed width font too.

Re: How do you invert text on the display?

Cool. Thanks. That works.

Image

You can see how I've inverted the month in one image and minutes in the other. Although the font does leave something to be desired, it's progress nonetheless. Thanks.

How do you invert text on the display?

I have a small clock interface that I'm working on. In order to set the clock, I have a button that steps the user through the various fields: hours, minutes, month, day, year, etc. Another push button increments the value. In order to let the user know what value they are setting, I wanted to inver...

Re: Can't seem to call a function when my IR remote is press

Ha! I think I figured out where the problem is. If I eliminate this code from my loop, it works: DateTime now = RTC.now(); tempC = RTC.getTemperature(); tempF = (tempC * 9.0)/ 5.0 + 32.0; // Convert C to F hhRTC = now.hour(); //used to check AM/PM status mmRTC = now.minute(); ssRTC = now.second(); d...

Re: Can't seem to call a function when my IR remote is press

Something very odd is going on so start by confirming that even the obvious "has to work" code is actually working. Yes, I''ve tried that. That's how I know nothing is being called. No message show up on the serial monitor when all the clock code is in the sketch. Very strange stuff going on. If I ...

Re: Can't seem to call a function when my IR remote is press

Have you tested the remote to see if it's actually working and triggering code? The remote works fine when it's just the blank sketch provided by Sparkfun. I can see A, B, C, etc in the serial monitor. But when I paste that code into my sketch for the clock, it doesn't work. It only works when I em...

Re: Can't seem to call a function when my IR remote is press

Those delays are not doing you any good. If your are pressing the button while during a 'delay' it's not going to register it (especially the delay of 30 secs). I will admit I just skimmed over the code, maybe someone who has experience with RTCs will reply. Correct. I actually took that already. I...

Re: Can't get GPS and IR Receiver code to play nice together

OK, it's not the GPS code after all. It has something to do with the ability to call a function from within "if irrecv.decode(&results))"

Since this is a different matter altogether, I started a new thread here.

Can't seem to call a function when my IR remote is pressed

I’m using Sparkfun’s SEN-08554 IR receiver and remote to control a clock that I’m making. However, I’m having a little trouble implementing the code for the IR receiver. I’m using Ken Sherriff’s library and the code that Sparkfun provided: #include <IRremote.h> int RECV_PIN = 46; //pin 46 for the Me...

Re: Can't get GPS and IR Receiver code to play nice together

"I eliminated the interrupt altogether and put all the GPS code in a function I can call with a button" Great solution. That would be an ideal work around to slim things down and make the code run smoother. Happy hacking Thanks. I also now make use of the EN pin. So with a press of a button on my r...

Re: Can't get GPS and IR Receiver code to play nice together

Actually, I eliminated the interrupt altogether and put all the GPS code in a function I can call with a button on the remote. Strangely enough, it still does it. I then began to wonder if it's the remote "irrecv.decode(&results" code. As it turns out, I think I have way too much stuff going on in t...

Re: Can't get GPS and IR Receiver code to play nice together

I stripped out all the GPS stuff and the IR library works well with the glcd library. So it has to be something with the GPS library. #include <glcd.h> #include <IRremote.h> #include <fonts/allFonts.h> int RECV_PIN = 46; IRrecv irrecv(RECV_PIN); decode_results results; void setup() { Serial.begin(11...

Can't get GPS and IR Receiver code to play nice together

I'm making a clock that is pulling the time in via Adafruit's Ultimate GPS module. It pulls in the time, then uses that to update a DS3231 RTC. I am using an Arduino Mega 2650. My code is based off Adafruit's Echo and Parsing sketches. http://kevinrye.net/files/arduino2560_0016-16.jpg Here's the pro...
