Re: Autonomous car wars

OK, we talked it over, and we're going to go with the PRS size restriction, instead of weight. That is 36" wide and 62" long. They also call out no taller than 72", but I don't know what a "banana car" is in this context, so we'll waive that one.

Re: Autonomous car wars

That is a race-ready vehicle, minus the rider... but...

Maybe that's too low. Seems like you could get to a hundred pounds fairly quickly. Lemme have a conversation with some others...

Re: Autonomous Car Wars

Well... you have two official runs, and you can come and tune on Friday. But you gotta be working on Saturday. To answer the paint question, I have this: https://github.com/ESpitler/AVC2017_ima ... _Paint.jpg

Re: Autonomous Car Wars

Nerf gun: You provide, does not have to be Nerf brand but it must shoot darts, not disks, balls or anything else. Battery operated? Hmm... I'm sorta against it, but as long as it's not a rapid-fire setup, I think that's OK. But it's true, you will only have one hand to actuate the gun, cuz the other...

Re: AVC Pit Area

Heya, Yes, we're definitely supplying power, and bringing along a power strip couldn't hurt. Security? Well, we've never, ever, had a problem in the past. We do have SFE people in the mix, but I can't guarantee that they'll be watching your stuff, just looking out for suspicious activity in general....

Re: according to pete

Nah, nothing like that. I was having a hard time keeping up with my real job as the director of the department, and I didn't feel like I was adding anything new or useful. Maybe that's wrong, but there's just so much noise and lip service that gets spewed out regarding electronics and open-source ha...

Re: Using XBee As Serial Cable Replacement

Consider case gotten on. An older design when we were quicker and dirtier, as it were  . I'll get this in the project queue and we'll make it right.

Re: Hey, sparky AKA -Nathan

Hi there, If you're going to lay blame, you can take it up with me as it was almost certainly my call to make as the director of engineering, not Nate's. I'll PM you my direct line and we can talk. I do think I know to what this pertains, and if so I do actually feel *very* badly about how it went d...

Hi guys, I've found some interesting things this morning. I seem to be able to reproduce the oscillation over Bluetooth at either 100Hz or 200Hz. 150Hz nothing. 199Hz nothing and 201Hz nothing. As far as the frequency of the oscillation goes, it seems to be in the neighborhood of 1500 samples regard...

OK, I've tested again reporting over Bluetooth, and I can't seem to reproduce the symptom. Incidentally, I'm running 200Hz, all the mag channels active, for something like 8000 samples. Right now the answer is that I don't have an answer. It looks intermittent, but I don't know that I believe that. ...

OK, so here's what I got... First test was with the 6DOF reporting over Bluetooth. The oscillation is clearly visible. Second test was over the hard line. No oscillation. Third test was over the hard line, but with the bluetooth connected. No oscillation. Hmm...OK, I could buy that. Fourth test was ...

Well....

Hmm...I'm going to pull one of these off the shelf and see if I can duplicate the problem. My guess is it's got something to do with the Bluetooth because nothing else on the board has cycles that run in the seconds range. I'll post results.

Yep, it's in the posted source code, just prior to getting any values from the mag sensors. Specifically, //set/reset for mag sensors======================================================= IOCLR1 = 0x00020000; for (j = 0; j < 15; j++); IOSET1 = 0x00020000; //Get magx=================================...
