Best Microcontroller at Sparkfun?

What is the most popular microcontroller at Sparkfun, not including the Raspberry Pi?

MPU-9250 IMU with SPI

I hooked up the MPU-9250 Sparkfun breakout on the Teensy 3.2 using SPI, but the WHO-AM-I register is incorrectly returning zero. Does the breakout board need any special treatment, like desoldering one of the jumpers or anything else? I prefer SPI because my robot needs a 3 foot CAT-5 cable to the I...

Re: LSM6DS3 IMU - Arduino Due SPI Mode

Tip for those with unanswered threads in Sparkfun forum. Try posting questions: in forum.arduino.cc

Regarding this thread's subject, the Adafruit IMU is better IMHO. Explanation here:

Arduino Due SPI Problem with LSM6DS3

I've been having a rough time communicating with my Sparkfun LSM6DS3 IMU. Can't even get it to send the WHO_AM_I value. No matter what I do, the code below returns 255. I tried another LSM6DS3 chip, but same issue. I2C works for both so the chips are functioning. The Arduino Due pinout diagram shows...

Re: LSM6DS3 IMU - Arduino Due SPI Mode

I made some progress with the SPI connection. The LSM6DS3 is communicating, but it keeps returning the value 255. Even the WHO_AM_I register (0X0F) returns 255. Does Sparkfun have any recommendations? The small sketch below demonstrates the problem. #define SSX 4 #include <SPI.h> void setup() { uint...

LSM6DS3 IMU - Arduino Due SPI Mode

I connected the LSM6DS3 breakout board to my 32-bit Arduino Due in I2C mode. The setup works, except for spurious tics that occasionally appear in the accel and gyro readings. One day the tics are there, other days they are not. I tried changing the LSM6DS3 bandwidth, output-data-rate, filtering, bu...

LSM5DS3 6-DOF IMU - Accel & Gyro ADC Resolution?

Interested in purchasing a few LSM6DS3 breakout boards. Studied the datasheet carefully, and there is no information on ADC resolution for the accelerometers and gyros. This is odd. It does report temperature sensor resolution (12-bits), but for my project, this would be too low for the IMU readings...

Intermittent Dropouts Observed at 4 feet with XBEE Pro Serie

My project uses a pair of XBEE Pro Series-1 modules. One sends serial data at 115200 baud and the other receives. Data string is 20 ascii characters. For troubleshooting purposes, the modules are only 4 feet apart. All functions correctly, but if I cover one of the XBEE modules with my hand without ...

Arduino Board with Parallax Multi-Processor Chip

Arduino is more than a business, it's a worldwide movement dedicated to education, electronics, programming, making... for everyone. In doing so, Arduino has proven that it's not married to a single chip manufacturer. Mainly ATMEL but now Atheros and TI. Why not design a board for Parallax semicondu...

Arduino Tre Price

The new Arduino Tre is scheduled to arrive any time now (Spring 2014). Is the price known yet? Will it fall near the Raspberry Pi or BeagleBone Black? I'm very excited for Arduino's leap to the SBC domain (single-board-computer). I'm a bit concerned with the price for the following reasons: (1) it w...

Re: Interview with God - Arduino 32-bit "Due" Delay Answered

The Arduino Due is retailing for $49 USD. Massimo Banzi himself addressed the price issue in the thread below: (high traffic!) http://arduino.cc/forum/index.php/topic=88029.msg966219.html#msg966219 Adafruit beat out Sparkfun with the announcement, and she's even listing it on the "New Product" page ...

Re: Interview with God - Arduino 32-bit "Due" Delay Answered

October 22nd is the last release date announced at the World Maker Faire in New York (9/29-9/30). Price: $49. Just when I thought Arduino would miss another commitment, I read it's been released according to "wired.com". Can this be true? "Wired.com" is a respectable site. It doesn't make sense to h...

Interview with God - Arduino 32-bit "Due" Delay Answered

The Arduino 32-bit Due (Italian for "two") was due last December as announced in the last Maker Faire (September, 2011). To the user community's surprise, no news, no updates, no communication whatsoever from Arduino, a company known for being open on "everything" - except communication apparently. ...
