Re: Arduino Airsoft Controller with Display

OK, the code is up on GitHub:
https://github.com/StaticDet5/Arduino-A ... -w-Display

Now I gotta look at putting together another test rig, in addition to the HackADay projects I've got going...

Hope to see ya' there!

Re: Arduino Airsoft Controller with Display

GitHub's a GREAT idea. Back when I was poking at this, I didn't have the depth or experience to understand what GitHub was. To be honest and upfront: I don't have a current working prototype, or even a Nano that has this code on it. I'm going to work on pulling things together over the next week or ...

Re: Arduino Airsoft Controller with Display

OK, I'm out of town right now, so not able to search through boxes. However, going back over the documentation here, I found the MOSFETs that I was using: IRT 3205. They got hot to the touch (around 65c), with a heatsink bolted on (no sink grease). There's a fair amount of detail on this page: https...

Re: Arduino Airsoft Controller with Display

I'm the OP. I was using pretty over-spec'd MOSFET's. The only real times I was having issues with blown FET's was when I screwed up. Now, I'm going to be honest, I believe the drive FET had a heatsink on it, and I know it was exposed to an open environment. It wasn't crammed in the buttstock of the ...

Re: Arduino Airsoft Controller with Display

There was a discussion about this somewhere. They were talking about 3D printing components for a water-cooling rig and hit some really important parts. For pressure, 3D printers suck. The "laminate" nature of the print makes the whole body subject to leaks and failures. You might be able to get aro...

Re: Arduino Airsoft Controller with Display

Tall order to drill a rod that long in a straight line.

However, I did just order some Taulman Filament. Both the nylon and the translucent one. I think they're both supposed to be incredibly durable. The translucent one may be ideal for an airsoft chamber.

DUDE! You're doing exactly what I wanted to do. Really exciting. I hope you keep posting.

Re: Arduino Airsoft Controller with Display

I bought a RepRap Mendel Tricolour last month. I've broken it several times already and fixed it. I've identified a couple of improvements to it that I'm going to be able to do myself, with no problem. For one of the fixes, I needed to print out improved parts, and was able to easily do it (RepRap p...

Re: Arduino Airsoft Controller with Display

Gorgeous write up. I just picked up a 3D printer myself, and I'm getting motivated looking at your work. I'm really interested in Mac's question about the photo interrupter. I never got reliable counting out of my system (I used the exact same photo-interrupter you did. Well, one of several). How is...

Re: Arduino Airsoft Controller with Display

I just got to work and realized I completely forgot about this (I fell asleep the other night).
I'm going to check back as soon as I can.

Re: Arduino Airsoft Controller with Display

This system worked pretty well. For actual BB counting, it was overkill (I think). This system could measure the electrical usage of the gearbox and graph it out. This system could definitely count the number of times the gearbox cycled (How many shots the gearbox had put out). The intent was to put...

Re: Arduino Airsoft Controller with Display

This new living arrangement is killing my creative drive. There's nowhere that I can safely work with an airsoft gun. I have the module sitting next to me, in a box, 6 feet away. The minute I can pick it up again, I'm going after it. In the meantime, anyone that wants to see the work so far, let me ...

Re: Arduino Airsoft Controller with Display

OK really long overdue. I thought I was moving to a nice new place. Instead we've moved to a townhouse... I'm not going to be able to do that much "live fire" testing. The sort-of good news is that I got a promotion. I've got a little more money to throw at this. I'm looking at an oscilloscope on Sa...

Re: Arduino Airsoft Controller with Display

I know you spoke about getting an O-scope, I just picked up an old Tektronix 465M in perfect working order. Found it on craigslist, I setup a "recipe" on ifttt.com to email me whenever an oscilloscope showed up for $200 or less. I paid $150 and tested it tonight. So you can find an old analog oscil...

Re: Arduino Airsoft Controller with Display

I definitely owe some pictures and an update. The update is really more griping. I've got the Arduino end of the system reporting information over the serial link. Getting the display to read the link and update the display correctly is another issue. It's a different programming language, and I jus...
