Hello Is it possible to make custom button pads from out of the same material as the SparkFun button pads such as these http://www.sparkfun.com/products/7836 I realise it's silicon rubber but I'm not sure if it's available as a DIY material What I'd like is some of these http://www.sparkfun.com/prod...

Thanks guys, I'll take your advice and research software solutions more thoroughly.

Hardware debounce, selecting a Schmitt trigger buffer

Hi I've some buttons connected to an Arduino and I'm getting lots of bouncing behaviour. Various software solutions haven't helped much so I researched hardware debouncing and found this useful article. http://www.ikalogic.com/debouncing.php I get the theory but I haven't used a Schimtt trigger buff...

Hi folks My Serial LCD has freaked out on me. Have resorted to the simplest of tests to investigate. A simple Serial.print('hello world') with the LCD connected to 5V/GND/TX on an Arduino Duemilanove. My problem is the characters are extremely dim. Almost imperceptible. At certain angles I can just ...

Solved! Detailing solution for the record ...

Needed a 1k resistor between +5VDC and pin 0. Why I do not know :)

Your PCB layout is rather poor, and you don't seem to have any decoupling capacitors for the AVR. Always route critical tracks like supplies and grounds, and decoupling capacitors, first, with wide tracks. Each Vdd-Vss pin pair should be decoupled close to the pins. Yes very much a noob when it com...

What could cause RX to fail on a homebrew Arduino?

Hi I've built a homebrew Arduino and all seemed well at first. Blink ran. I can wire it to an LCD and write to it using the SoftwareSerial library. I can plug my homebrew 4 x 4 button pad/RGB LED matrix board into it and it works. I can plug my homebrew MIDI board into it and it can send MIDI messag...

Multi-coloured cable, aluminium knobs and other aesthetics

Hi I've recently had trouble finding multi-coloured ribbon cable (in reasonable lengths anyway). Why do I want multi-coloured ribbon cable? Because it looks pretty of course! Does it matter? Well yes I think it does. If SparkFun is about blurring the boundaries between artists and engineers, which I...

Um whatever's out there really and I don't know what is. Yeah about 50 mm would do it. Width no matter as long as they remain ergonomic relative to their size.

Thanks. Ones you can put tops on, yeah not presets but I'm talking sliders (move up and down) not knobs (turn). It's not obvious from your reply if you realised.

You know you can get those weeny sub-miniature pots? If anybody has a Korg Monotron it has them as an example of what I mean. Can you get sub-miniature sliders too? I've Googled and looked through the component suppliers (well here in the UK).

Problem with 4 x 4 button pad

Hello I'm doing a project that's kind of a Monome variation. There's a "logic board" (essentially a modified Monome Arduino shield I found online) controlled by an Arduino that reads two separate 4 x 4 SparkFun button pads each of which have 16 LEDs (buttons read with 74164 and 74165 shift registers...
