Out of curiosity, which antenna are you using? Are you experiencing good results with the antenna (i.e. fast TTFF)?

I've never tried it myself but I could see where a Wacom Tablet might be annoying for that type of application. I do have a 3DConnexion Space Navigator that I love and often wish I could use with my Schematic Capture/Layout tools. For those who haven't heard of these devices, they are a sort of 3D m...

I also like OKW Enclosures (http://www.okwenclosures.com/). They have some nice enclosures and offer free samples on some. You might be hard pressed to find an enclosure with a built in button. Why not drill a hole in the enclosure and attach a panel mount style button with a nice bezel?

Ah - I just looked up Microbolometer and I see they dont need cooling. This is a different technology from what I've seen.

I'm a bit confused. Are you looking to build a camera that can see in the dark by illuminating a scene with infra-red light? Or are you looking to build a camera that can see heat signatures emitted from warm bodies? The former is much easier to build than the latter. The optics to build a camera th...

I2C bus analyzer

I have a need for an I2C bus analyzer and I'm looking for a inexpensive device that I can plug into the USB port of my computer and have it display and decode I2C signals. Have any of you purchased a device like this and had a pleasant experience with it? I guess I'm looking for a recommendation. Th...

I'm a little confused by this too. From what I'm understanding you will be hiding the GPS receiver. Then people will search for the receiver based on clues given to them. So where do the GPS coordinateness come into play? Why have a GPS at all if it's a clues based game? It sounds like an interestin...

A question: why bother using a dispenser needle? I’ve been using the solder paste syringes for a while and have never bothered with the needle. I just squirt it directly from the nozzle of the syringe. Seriously - what’s the benefit? I’ve also had good success with the mylar stencils from Pololu. I’...

Are you using a USB/SERIAL converter chip such as the FTDI? If so, the FTDI chip expects TTL levels on it's serial port, not RS232 levels. If I understand you correctly, you have the following setup: VENUS GPS RX/TX -> MAXIM LEVEL CONVERTER -> SERIAL TO USB CHIP If this is your setup, it will not wo...

Re: Convert MNEA to coordinates that google map understands

Or you could simply add a space after the whole number portion of the degrees.

For example:
4003.8914N, 10512.5933W

Becomes:
40 03.8914N, 105 12.5933W

Google Maps will understand this as well.

Hi diodedan, Murata Power Solutions sells the little +-5v modules your looking for. They're great for opamps and I use them all the time. Here's a link for one available through Mouser: http://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Murata-Power-Solutions/NKA1205DC/?qs=sGAEpiMZZMtwaiKVUtQsNfm%2fD%252blhMlTW3HO...

If a simple GPS logger is all you're looking for, then you might want to try the "Venus GPS Logger with SMA Connector" from Sparkfun. I've purchased this and found it remarkably easy to get working as a datalogger. You really dont even need a microcontroller. If you hook a RS232 level converter to t...

Dave - thanks for your response. It's nice to know C stands for capacity. Except this battery is not 5Ah, it's 900mAh, so I'm still confused. I should also mention that the 5 is a subscript of the C.
