Re: Trouble with interference on electret mic BoB clone

What are you referring to with "units"? The op-amps? Or the overall circuit?

I don't own a scope, so the best I could do is see how fast an LED blinks when I flip the pin. What should I be looking for when I try that?

Re: Trouble with interference on electret mic BoB clone

The schematic is exactly the same, literally copied and pasted, as the Sparkfun breakout board (https://www.sparkfun.com/products/9964). Sparkfun forums do not allow PDF attachment, so an PNG is uploaded instead. I'm assuming it is raw audio, as I don't see any diodes anywhere in the design. The bre...

Re: Help wiring up multiple RingCoder (circular LED breakout

I am completely new to shift registers, and not super excited about getting too far into them. I'm really just interested in getting using the LEDs as a dial gauge, and using the rotary encoders as potentiometers. Just a visual feedback mechanism for the position of the pot (filled to the current le...

Re: Help wiring up multiple RingCoder (circular LED breakout

That handles the daisy chaining, but what about the wiring? Did I get it right about which lines to make common, and which to keep separate?

Trouble with interference on electret mic BoB clone

I bought an electret mic breakout board (https://www.sparkfun.com/products/9964) and was able to get it to work quite well, so I decided to use the circuit in an open-source sensor module that I am working on. I received the PCBs from OSHPark yesterday and assembled the first prototype, but am getti...

Help wiring up multiple RingCoder (circular LED breakout)

I'd like to connect two RingCoder breakout boards (https://www.sparkfun.com/products/11040) to a single ATMega328, but I'm a little bit confused about how to connect them both together. I'm new to shift registers in general, but it seems that the RingCoder is not set up to allow for daisy chaining m...

Using SparkFun designs in my own board?

I'm working on a simple sensor module that combines a temperature sensor, ambient light sensor and audio sensor that I'd like to eventually sell to people, but one of the sensor interfaces (the audio part) is a SparkFun design. I used the Eagle files from this breakout board (https://www.sparkfun.co...

Help connecting RN-42 Bluetooth module to ATMEGA328

I'm trying to learn how to connect an RN-42 Bluetooth module (http://www.sparkfun.com/products/10253) to an ATMEGA328 chip on a PCB design in Eagle. I have already connected the VDD and RESET pins to my power lines (3.3V) and the six GND pins to my GND line. But what about the data? Do I only need t...

Long EL wire connectors

I am wondering about how long the connectors on EL wire can be and still work. I'd like to have connectors that reach a circuit board about 5ft away (max). I was just concerned about whether or not I needed to use shielded cable or if I can just plain hookup wire. I also have a ton of twisted pairs ...

Re: Uploading sketches to external AtMega328 (with bootloader)

Looks like I was missing the RESET wire! I just attached that, selected Arduino Uno and uploaded, it worked no problem.

Uploading sketches to external AtMega328 (with bootloader)

I need to create 5 synthesizers using the Auduino sketch, but didn't have enough money to buy 5 complete Arduino boards. So I ordered five of these chips from SparkFun: http://www.sparkfun.com/products/9217 However, I see these chips have the UNO bootloader on them, and I only have Duemilanove board...

Re: Why does the tri-color RGB LED (3W) cost so much?

Right, I've noticed that on Digikey as well. Does that mean that SparkFun may buy certain items at lower price breaks like 100-200, but wholesale sellers like DealsExtreme might buy 1000-2000, so they can charge less? Also, I imagine that DX has a lower profit margin on this particular item than Spa...

Why does the tri-color RGB LED (3W) cost so much?

Just curious - I've bought the "triple output high power RGB LED" before and had good luck (http://www.sparkfun.com/products/8718), but I've seen similar items on other sites for much, much less (such as http://www.dealextreme.com/p/3w-led-emitter-on-star-multicolored-rgb-4530). What is it that acco...

Trouble finding package of resistors

Hey! I'm designing my first ever PCB board using Eagle, just a simple RGB LED driver, and am having trouble locating the correct package of resistor that I've chosen to work with. What I mean is, I have already picked out the resistors (this has already been built on perfboard), but I can't seem to ...
