Re: wav trigger--not able to update firmware

In all fairness, it's definitely more than 'a fraction of a second'. I've done this a lot and I know I've waited several seconds without a problem. But your point is taken - Documentation could always be better.

Re: wav trigger--not able to update firmware

There's a limited amount of time you have between applying power to the WAV Trigger (with the switch in the "Load" positions) and pressing the "Program" button in the app. Have you closed the 5V solder jumper on the WAV Trigger? If so, you're applying power as soon as you plug in the FTDI Basic. If ...

Re: Tsunami WAV trigger not powering up

If you follow the hookup guide and aren't able to duplicate the results, then it stands to reason that you may have a defective board, in which case you should contact SparkFun tech support for a replacement. Does the LED do anything at all when you power up the board? You might try the firmware upd...

Re: Using a Potentiometer with MP3 Trigger & Speaker?

Maybe I'm missing something, but if you use an MP3 Trigger (or WAV Trigger) and the stereo files contain the individual sounds on the left/right channels, then all you need is a balance control. You need an external amplifier anyway (both boards' stereo output are line-level and require an external ...

Re: Tsunami firmware update problem.

The LED turns on whenever audio is playing, regardless of how the audio is started. It does not indicate MIDI activity per se. When audio is not playing, the LED does the 3-second-flash heartbeat. If you haven't done so already, I suggest going step-by-step through the Hookup Guide, making sure that...

Re: Tsunami firmware update problem.

A short flash every 3 seconds is the normal "heartbeat" that indicates the firmware is running, so your Tsunami appears to be working properly. When you successfully flash a new version of firmware, the LED should go solid at the end of the procedure, and stay that way until you either reset or cycl...

Re: WAV Trigger: want to play one sound file at a time, without delays.

"However, as others have discovered, the PLO signal appears to be on all the time." I'm not aware of any issue with the PLO output. Please point me to these posts. How are you determining that it is "on all the time"? Have you examined the voltage output with a meter or scope, or are you relying on ...

Re: WAV Trigger: want to play one sound file at a time, without delays.

By "wait", I don't mean the delay() function. I mean that you need to write code that monitors the state of the PLO output of the WAV Trigger using a digital input, and don't start the next sound until this signal indicates that the previous track is finished. While I can't help with basic programmi...

Re: WAV Trigger: want to play one sound file at a time, without delays.

There are a couple of ways to do this, but they require that you implement the "wait" in your Arduino code. The first way is to connect the "PLO" (Play Out) signal of the WAV Trigger to a digital input. This output goes low while any sound is playing and is high when no sounds are playing. It's the ...

Re: WAV Trigger or MP3 Trigger: Looping sequence with "next" button

Follow up: It occurs to me that if you do the above, and you also program a second trigger to be the "Stop" function for the same range of tracks, it may have the affect you want, namely that it would stop the current track, but since the first trigger is still active (Level sensitive, inverted) the...

Re: WAV Trigger or MP3 Trigger: Looping sequence with "next" button

With the WAV Trigger, you can (using the Configurator and the init file) set a trigger function to be "Next", make it "Level Sensitive" and "Invert". When the WAV Trigger powers on, it will see that trigger as constantly active (without a jumper since it's now inverted) and will cycle through all th...

Re: Tsunami connected to a 5V UART

If it helps, you shouldn't need to convert the level of the Tsunami TX (3.3V) going to the the ECU. It will see the 3.3V as a logic high.

Re: MP3 Trigger Volume and File Type?

Don't know how to answer the volume question since you haven't told us anything about the amps. This doesn't appear to be a question about the MP3 trigger, or is it? Not sure I understand. The most likely reason for a delay when triggering a sound is that there is non-audio data at the beginning of ...

Re: Tsunami Questions

1. Tsunami can be set to respond to either one particular MIDI channel or all midi MIDI channels (Omni) but there is currently no way assign individual notes to specific channels. Within a MIDI channel, you can switch MIDI banks using either a trigger function or MIDI Program Change messages, and th...
