Re: Celullar shield (baudrate issue?)

I looked at the comments and saw this: -------------------------- by 33Warlord +7| Mar 21, 2010 at 8:21am 0 Fixed! In case anyone else has problems getting their shield working. Problem: The default baud rate (for the SM5100) was set at 115200; this is also the default as stated on page 25 of the AT...

Re: Arduino / C newbie

I vote you simplify a bit, put your code into a C or C++ program and 'printf(temp);' to console. Just to make sure it's not the LCD causing problems. Also, is it possible that your float, once converted to ascii, is more than 9 characters and there isn't enough space to \0 null-terminate the string?...

Re: Over $100 spent on arduinos all fried themselves

I don't know about your normal arduino but on the Pro's i usually have to hold reset down during upload, and release when it starts. Or i get the exact same error you posted. Same thing when using the FTDI cable on my Ardweeny's. The Arduino D* works fine with a normal USB cable but i've gotten that...

Re: starting an IR sensor remotely

You can fetch readings with an Xbee... or do something like this: http://community.livejournal.com/arduin ... /2417.html

Re: Xbee range thru walls?

Should work just fine. I'd suggest you start with 2x 2mW rpsma Xbees and experiment a little. Since these points sound fixed, you can use directional antennas. If you aren't interested in directional antennas, i'd say just go with wire Xbees.

I've been using the SF Serial 128x64 with backpack on a 5v power supply.. so far it has been working very well. When you run yours at 6v the display is more readable? If you haven't, my guess is the contrast needs to be adjusted, there is a little gold knob on the backpack. You could also try turnin...

It still doesn't look right to me. If only one function is used.. it is working fine, right? So it's the combination of the two. Which means something isn't being turned off before the other is run. When you are reading X(via y2) y1 is still outputting HIGH when it should be "disconnected". You coul...

Don't you have to set x1 and y2 as INPUTs before you read from them?

I recently bought two Serial Graphic LCD 128x64 modules and had a little trouble. The set X and set Y commands are wrong on the datasheet. You have to use 0x18 and 0x19 not 0x17 and 0x18. Also the Y is inverted, so the origin is actually the bottom left corner. Not sure if the bigger LCD is the same...

Forgot there was a picture of it online.. please excuse the crudeness of the "device", it is packaged much better now and not just a jumble of parts : ) But you can see it doesn't take up much space and it's very easy to unplug the Xbee and plug in the FTDI to upload a new sketch. Not sure if it wil...

You can try setting up an arduino with a potentiometer. There is even an official arduino.cc tutorial for that i think. Just Serial.print the value back to your computer. After you get that figured out, use that number to control your stepper (which you said you can already do). You might want a sma...

Xbee + Mini pro

I noticed the FTDI cable was identical to the sparkfun Xbee Explorer Regulated. So i soldered a header to the mini pro that accepts either the FTDI cable or the Xbee. It's very quick to unplug the xbee, plug in the FTDI, upload a sketch, and replace the Xbee. http://www.sparkfun.com/commerce/images/...
