restart button won't light led on pin 13

I can't upload sketches to my Deicemilla. When connected to my Mac book or PC, the led on pin 13 won't light when the reset button is pushed. An iDuino has the same problem but Stickduino will upload sketches. What could be the problem? I joined the grounds of the Arduino and 20v Wal Wort. Could thi...

count doesn't count

I am trying to control a printer motor with an Arduino and two optointerrupters. "Counter" does not count; the serial monitor buzzes through consecutive numbers but does not stop at 5. Please advise. Thanks. int opto1 = 4; int opto2 = 5; int motor1 = 9; int motor2 = 6; int enable = 8; int val1; int ...

Picaxe download problems

I am trying to learn Picaxe programming on my Mac Intel. Downloading the the 08m board has been hit and miss, mostly miss. After juggling every known variable, it seems to have a mind of its own. Is this a common problem?

electret mic breakout board

Has anybody actually been successful using the mic board to directly import analog data with Arduino? Although the description states it can, I have read of similar problems I have found. Is there a trick to this?

analog filtering

Here is the schematic from a web source. Please scroll to the bottom to find it. The diodes, according to the author, are intended to rectify the circuit, although "Physical Computing" pictures the same circuit, minus the diodes. Should I pull these? http://itp.nyu.edu/physcomp/sensors/Reports/Conde...

filtering analog input

Oh no! This presents serious trouble because of the many variations of this sketch, none will respond with more than just a few counts, not more than three or so apart. Here is the schematic. Is it possible to make the hardware more responsive? A transistor or another opamp? http://i189.photobucket....

filtering analog input

LED's will change state when analog input is five or six numbers from the threshold, making accurate transitions impossible. Is there some better way to resolve this problem? unsigned long starTime; int flashRed = 20000; const int numReadings = 3; int readings[numReadings]; // the readings from the ...

I am designing a noise monitors for our school cafeteria that will use led's to indicate level of sound over each pod of tables. I was hoping to harvest values from the LM386, average them over time, and program a response. Sound it seem presents unexpected problems for the inexperienced. Thanks for...

reading voltage from analog pin

I have tested an LM386 circuit with multimeter and a small speaker so I know it is functional but I can't read meaningful values with this code void setup() { Serial.begin(9600); } void loop() { int soundLevel = analogRead(0) -512; Serial.print( "soundIn = "); Serial.println(soundLevel); delay (1000...

Arduino Values from LM386

I want to read values from an LM386. The circuit is from "Physical Computing" p.357. I have made this a number of times with the same results; inconsistent figures, mostly 1~20. I assume the problem lies with the sketch. ADC is something of puzzle, even though I have read a number of descriptions. W...

Breakout Board for Electret Microphone

I have tried to connect the breakout board to analog Arduino pin 0 but the results are a very limited range. How can I amplify this to work with an LM3915 to run an LED bar?

component id please

I am not electronics savvy and can't identify several of the components in the schematic. Are the caps: 2.2, 1uF, .01uF, and 100pF ceramic? Also, What is the IN34 diode? Thanks.

sound breakout board

Can the sound sensor breakout board http://www.sparkfun.com/commerce/produc ... ts_id=8669
connect directly to an analog pin to measure ambient noise? I need to activate lights for a noise control project. Appreciate your advise.
