Re: PCB CNC machine

Hi @marianmp, The maximum depth setting that the SW allows me is 11.4 mm , but this is actually the entire travel of the pressure foot (looking at the reading of the gauge). I definitely believe that machining depth of any kind up to 11 mm is not a problem. In your particular case the aspect ratio i...

Re: PCB CNC machine

Dear, rf333 if possible could you please answer - how do you fix the foil on your 360 mill when you work with stencils? If possible - can you post some photos. We have good source for fast pcb production but no source for cost effective stencil production. I also interesting in the ni-coated brass ...

Hi @Scott216,
Probably the problem is the thin border in the top layer (green arrow). The thin line violates the 8mil rule!

You don’t have mechanical layer. So, I will recommend you to move the border line from top layer to mechanical layer!
(the clearance is OK > 8 mil)

Re: PCB CNC machine

... Hi @ragingenferno, Have checked your Gerber files with PhCNC (The software of my machine) and didn’t found any problems. I do not use BatchPCB (making prototypes my self), but under the conditions mentioned here: https://www.batchpcb.com/faq#question_2 There are some problems with your Gerber f...

Re: PCB CNC machine

… and I am now a proud owner of A606  http://www.accuratecnc.com/A406_A407_A606_A607.html ... I am very interested in a machine that can work on these new substrates that are aluminum backed in order to be heat sink to the power LED’s. The volume that I am planning to run is definitely small...

Re: PCB CNC machine

Unfortunately, there is a big difference between a professional machine like A365 or S60 and DIY. Seems to me that it is coming from the dynamic tool penetration control that LPKF and Accurate have on the Z axis. Accurate even offers a SW that generates a G code to be executed on other CNC systems. ...

Re: Scotch tape

... It is very easy. Simply leave some slack tape outside your work piece that will allow you to remove it together with the parts. Then soak the entire thing in mineral spirits (turpentine) for more than half a day. All of your parts will come completely loose without any effort. Try it and let me...

Re: PCB CNC machine

Hi @ kamakaze, Unfortunately many similar machines are on the market with claims that you can engrave circuit boards. This is completely not the truth. Current electronic components are getting smaller and smaller and the boards have to meet this trend. If your goal is to prototype PCB’s you have to...

Re: PCB CNC machine

Hi @marianmp, I can share some experience on this kind of material: Insulation and rubout are practically the same as on standard substrates like FR-4. I had some kind of worries about the drilling of the mounting holes and the routing of the board. Apparently the structure of this kind of material ...

Re: PCB CNC machine

Hello everyone Our boss likes to get PCB mill (Accurate 360 or LPKF S62 – still not decided :) ) I have some questions 1) How is the process to match top and bottom layers ? 2) What is the max. drill diameter ( both machines have 1/8 collet) ? 3) What kind of maintenance is needed ? 4) Are they ope...

Re: PCB CNC machine

How are the square corners made? All holes are actually rounded on the corners with a radius of 4 mil. They have been made with 8 mil stub end mill. The same type of tools that are used for copper rubout process. Also there is additional “safety zone” needed for proper solder paste placement(it is ...

Re: PCB CNC machine

Yes, stencils are made on the mill. The material is 7.5 mil nickel coated phosphorous bronze! It has similar tensile strength as stainless steel and is great for machining. The tool is 8 mil stub end mill. Cutting speed is 7.5 inch/min @ 20 000 RPM. I didn’t try any plastics yet, but I will some day...

The PCB on the picture was made entirely with the machine. The drilling is the simplest operation :). Up to 40 mill holes are drilled with drill bits and all above with router, so there are no limits to the diameter . This way also provides savings for tools and tool changes. The smallest drilled by...
